I have been a private tutor since graduating from university in 2014. My role as a tutor is to help students achieve their academic goals. I currently tutor students for GCSE, A-level and IB exams in English, religious studies and history. I teach my students how to tackle challenging material and engage with it in a meaningful way. All my students are encouraged to ask questions as through enquiry, students can dig deeper into the subject and develop their critical and analytical thinking skills. These skills help students build their understanding so they can confidently approach exams and coursework. I encourage all my students to be curious and to always ask questions. No question is a silly question.More
Proud Teacher Moments:- 2019: Liam was not confident about his history exam (predicted a 5-6) and I started tutoring him for 8 weeks before his exams. He achieved an 8 in his History GCSE.
- 2019: Devesena was getting good grades (6-7) but she and her parents wanted more in her religious studies GCSE. After 5 months of lessons, Dev achieved a grade 9.
- 2019: Charlie is 8, has Down's Syndrome and had been quite poorly after surgery. He has a speech impediment and school would just put him in the reception class, even though his auditory comprehension and imagination is fantastic. His mum hired me to read and count with him while he was recovering from surgery. From barely being able to read when we started, after 1 hour a day (Monday-Friday) for 3 weeks, I had him tackling 3-4 letter words and reading 2 books each session. His mum was blown away and tearful. 6 months on Charlie and I are now reading 4-5 books and completing his writing homework in 50 minutes!
- 2018: Maddie was getting 56% after her first term studying the subject and with my help she achieved 85% in her mocks.
