Summary

I help students improve their grades and pass their GCSE, IGCSE and 11 plus and 13 plus Common Entrance exams. I am a qualified science teacher with over 5 years classroom teaching and tutoring experience. I teach the study techniques needed to greatly improve exam success.

Experience

I have over 5 years of classroom teaching and private tutoring experience, with a focus on GCSE, IGCSE, KS3 and 11+ & 13+ common entrance exams. I have worked with students from a range of backgrounds and abilities including those identified as underachieving. As a qualified teacher, I am fully conversant with all major UK and International exam boards (Edexcel, AQA, OCR, Cambridge and ISEB). My main subjects or expertise are biology and chemistry.

My goal is simple - to help students who struggle with science develop confidence and pass their exams. I help children master the foundational concepts so that they can easily build upon their knowledge.

My lessons are interleaved with questions and other assessment tasks as well as frequent end of unit exam questions. All this helps to assess the child’s progress and improve memory retention and learning. Practising exam papers also helps consolidate learning and dissipate children’s fears around examinations.

My tutoring sessions are built largely around student’s weaknesses. I identify how each child learns best and adapt my teaching style accordingly. I also use everyday examples to explain key concepts which helps build confidence and increase the child’s love and understanding for the subject.
