Summary

I am an experienced online tutor with an aptitude for catering to my students educational needs, and an absolute passion for sharing my knowledge of mathematics and physics. I understand the difficulties that many students face and love helping them overcome their challenges.

Experience

I was a teaching assistant of mathematics for one year, working with students in class and also within intervention sessions. This gave me a strong grasp of the national curriculum, teaching techniques and vital first hand classroom experience.

After university, I became a full time tutor of university mathematics for a student with specific learning difficulties at Bristol University. As well as providing organisational support, I also tutored and supported him through all his mathematics modules up until his final year.

Since then I’ve been working full time as an online tutor for maths and physics and have helped over 100 students across a range of levels. I have provided comprehensive maths support to students taught from home, as well as students working towards an early GCSE and A-level. I have prepared students for oxbridge entrance exams and the mathematical Olympiad.

Before university I taught English to classes of between 10-20 students in Nepal for 4 months. During university, I worked as a physics ambassador, providing workshops to schools. I was also a tutor to first year university students. I have gained a lot of experience about how different students learn, how to encourage them and how to use technology to maximise teaching efficiency.

I have extensive experience with all major UK exam boards. For maths I have experience teaching the Edexcel, AQA, OCR MEI (A&B), WJEC and CIE exam boards. For further maths I have experience with Edexcel, AQA, OCR MEI (A & B) and WJEC. For physics I have experience with Edexcel, AQA, OCR and WJEC. Almost all students I have tutored have exceeded their target grade. I have also tutored for the Oxbridge entrance maths exam and for university mathematics.

Every lesson plan is different, depending on the student and the subject being taught. In the class I use visual techniques to explain concepts, and work through examples at the students pace. I work through problems together with the student to ensure that they can apply what they have learnt to any question. I also like to incorporate short video clips to demonstrate key concepts, as well as online interactive sources. I work from CGP revision books, and use past exam papers to improve exam technique.

I am also a published academic researcher with two academic papers, one in Complex Systems and the other in Journal of Cellular Automata.
