I have been teaching for over 20 years and have a PGCE in secondary maths. As part of our first lesson I offer a free 30 minute session to assess your level, and discuss your aims and needs in order to find the best ways of helping you to reach your goals.Experience
I have worked in education for over 20 years, teaching a range of subjects including English language and literature, philosophy, English as a second language, and more recently mathematics. I have been involved in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme as a teacher and programme coordinator. I also have experience of working with students who have special educational needs, as well as students for whom English is a second language.In addition to my teaching roles, I have taken on senior management roles at independent schools, both overseas and in the UK. In these roles, I have guided students in their career and academic pathways, and explored ways of meeting their individual learning needs.

I have a versatile, individual-oriented approach to tutoring. As part of our first lesson I offer a free 30-minute session, in which I carry out an assessment, and discuss your aims and individual needs. From this starting point, I design each lesson accordingly, whether your goal is to enhance your performance and prepare for an examination, or to fill in gaps in your knowledge and correct misconceptions.In my teaching, I aim to make mathematics interesting and relevant for my students, and also to deal with difficulties and misconceptions using methods suited to their individual needs, for example, practical activities and technology.
Mathematics clearly has an important place in national curricula and I recognise, both as an educator and parent, that some students may need some support in for a variety of reasons. I also believe that a positive experience with mathematics has great benefits for students’ education overall, enabling them to develop a systematic, analytical approach and problem-solving strategies.
