I am a qualified maths teacher with 6 years of teaching experience working in schools. I have secured good progress for my GCSE pupils in this time and have also worked on developing the KS2 and KS3 curriculum. For the past 5 years I worked as a maths teacher in a secondary school, teaching across the ability range from 11-16 years olds. For 4 of those years, I taught GCSE classes at both higher and foundation levels. In my higher level classes, I've supported students who were previously working at foundation level, as well as pupils who are aiming for grade 8/9s. I have also taught Level 2 Further Mathematics.
I also have a lot of experience with the foundation GCSE through teaching Year 9 and 10 classes, and supporting other teachers with their planning. For year 7 and year 8 classes, I have taught across the ability range so have a range of strategies to support weaker pupils as well as knowing how to effectively stretch and challenge higher attaining pupils.
I have also worked as KS3 Lead Teacher, developing the KS3 curriculum and working with local feeder schools to ensure the KS2 curriculum and KS3 curriculum worked well together, so I am very familiar with KS2 SATs content in maths.
Before beginning my teacher training, I spent 9 months working as a 1-1 tutor with KS3 pupils struggling with their numeracy. I also assisted with an after school adult GCSE class and during this time, I also tutored a KS2 pupil for her SATs. Whilst at university I undertook a number of voluntary placements in schools, working within English and maths departments. I also gained experience as an editor on the student paper, which gave me experience coaching writers and helping people to edit their work to fit the in-house style.

I like to use a trial lesson to formulate a long term plan and establish the goals and content to be covered in future lessons. I'm a patient tutor and like to encourage pupils to say when they are having difficulties and help them to realise that mistakes are part of the learning process.Availability (UK time)
